Galerie le Container : getting to know us better

The project to create La Galerie le Container was born in 2016. Created by Déborah Bosseaux and Clément Dorance, it took the form of a traveling exhibition in containers. After criss-crossing the cities, it first took root in Nice, then in the heart ofAix-en-Provence. Galerie Le Container is an exhibition space wherecontemporary art and street art are expressed through different art forms(painting, sculpture, contemporary drawing, art objects, photography).

The gallery is committed to showcasing talented artists, international and local, renowned and lesser-known. From contemporary artists and street art exhibit their work. Creators such as Lise Gonthier and François Bel exhibit their sculptures.

The gallery's aim is to immerse visitors in a unique universe that showcases the richness of contemporary art.

For those who can't make it on site, Galerie le Container has created an online art gallery where you can view and purchase artworks.

The origin and heritage of figurative sculpture

Since prehistoric times, man has sought to represent the world around him through figurative sculpture. From ancient statues to Renaissance masterpieces, this artistic approach has spanned the centuries, evolving in step with artistic movements.

With the emergence of modernity and contemporary movements, sculptors have revisited figurative sculpture. Sculpture has reinvented itself with new perspectives. Influences from cubism and surrealism are also present. Today, this style continues to inspire artists who explore the boundary between realism and abstraction, capturing frozen movements or exaggerating proportions to accentuate the emotion emanating from their creations.

Figurative sculpture no longer limits itself to realism at all costs. Today, it knows how to be more free of constraints and offers original, stylized works.

The Principles of Figurative Sculpture

Each figurative work has its own characteristics that distinguish it from other sculptural movements:

  • An identifiable representation: unlike abstract sculpture, figurative sculpture depicts clearly identifiable subjects (human or animal forms, or recognizable objects).
  • Fidelity to realism or free interpretation: Some artists focus on extreme realism, preserving proportions and final rendering. However, other, more contemporary artists prefer to play with proportions and textures. They stylize the final rendering of figurative sculpture to make it original and creative.
  • Diverse materials: Bronze, marble, wood, resin, glass or even metal, each material brings its own identity to the work. In contemporary art, the exploration of materials and textures is central.
  • Movement and expression: Posture and gesture are key elements that lend expressiveness to figurative sculptures.
  • An exploration of emotions: Many works seek to communicate a story, a sensation or a reflection, directly involving the viewer in an immersive experience.

Why integrate a figurative sculpture into a professional space?

Integrating a figurative sculpture into a professional or institutional space is more than just an aesthetic choice. This type of work offers significant strategic advantages. To give you an overview of the possibilities, here are a few points to bear in mind.

  • Corporate art leasing A very interesting option that allows companies to lease a sculpture. As with all leasing, there is a purchase option.
  • Artwork tax exemption : Companies can benefit from tax advantages by exhibiting a figurative work of art in a public place. This can help lower corporate taxes, and thus provide tax relief.
  • Enhanced brand image: A sculpture in a lobby or meeting room conveys an image of prestige and cultural commitment.
  • A smart investment : L'corporate art purchase allows you to create a long-term asset for a professional or a company.

Figurative sculpture in contemporary art

Although its roots go back to antiquity, figurative sculpture is constantly being reinterpreted by contemporary artists. Some play with pure, stylized silhouettes, while others explore the fragmentation of the human body to deconstruct and recompose form. Some contemporary artists still advocate hyperrealism, while others play with the boundaries between abstract and figurative.

What's more, technological advances now make it possible to integrate new materials and manufacturing processes, such as3D printing, giving rise to innovative sculptures.
