Light-filled villas, skies of the deepest blue, seascapes suspended between reality and imagination. Johannes Kersting’s work explores our relationship with the ideal space—with what we project onto a place as much as we contemplate it. Trained in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg and later in photography at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design, this German artist, born in 1979, creates a demanding body of work that straddles the line between desire and melancholy.
